Brief description of organisations

    Name

International Network on Participatory Irrigation Management

Mission   The mission of the International Network on Participatory Irrigation Management is to facilitate Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM) through the exchange of people, ideas and training materials.

Description   The International Network on Participatory Irrigation Management (INPIM) is a non-profit organization.
INPIM was first launched at the First International Seminar on PIM in Mexico. The participants of this seminar felt the need to remain in touch with each other and exchange ideas and expertise in the area of PIM. For this reason, they established a network with its own identity that would assist them in pursuing this goal. Currently there are four national chapters of INPIM in various stages of early development: Albania, India, Pakistan, and Indonesia. These chapters are in the process of being established as legally autonomous NGOs registered locally, and affiliated with INPIM in Washington, D.C.

INPIM offer the following services:

- exchange of ideas through a quarterly newsletter and a message board.
- an internet site dedicated to PIM issues.
- a consultant referral service.
- access to a number of documents on PIM issues.
- sponsorship of experts & resource persons in seminars and conferences relevant to PIM.
- country specific information presenting news and resources on PIM: Albania, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey, Vietnam.
